Lepidolite is a purple-grey mineral belonging to the same family as Muscovite. It contains the highest concentration of Lithium of any mineral and is used commercially as a source of this element.

Like all minerals in the "Mica" group, Lepidolite is exceptionally brittle and tends to flake easily.

Most Lepidolite comes from Brazil, and it is found in a range of colours. In Nature it typically appears in shades of pink, purple and red, though it can occasionally be found in grey, and rarely in yellow.

Its reddish hue comes from its Manganese content.
