An old legend says that the Northern Lights — the Aurora Borealis — were once held captive in the rocks along the shores of Labrador in Canada. One day, an Inuit warrior came upon the glowing stones and, seeing the lights imprisoned within, struck the rock with his spear. This act freed the Aurora Borealis, though some of its light and energy remained in the stones forever.
