Desert Rose is the name we use today for a cluster of Barite or Selenite crystals that incorporate large grains of sand.
The "flowers" of these roses form in dry, sandy conditions. Selenite or Barite bonds together and crystallizes into a large formation. This crystal is then exposed to natural elements like wind and sand, which shape it into this beautiful form.
