Apatite belongs to the group of phosphate minerals and comes in a variety of colours. One of the more common shades is blue, while rarer forms of Apatite are transparent, yellow, and pink.

At times, Apatite was ground into powder and used as a pigment in terracotta objects in China during the third century BCE.
