Amethyst is a beautiful purple variety of the widely loved Quartz crystal. The purple colour forms through natural irradiation, traces of iron and titanium, or the presence of other elements.

Its name comes from the Greek αμεθυστoς (amethystos). The Greeks believed that the stone protected its wearer from intoxication through wine. Today, however, we use it for entirely different purposes.

What is a Worry Stone?

The crystal is polished and shaped into an elongated, flat form with a thumb indentation.

This form of crystal is used in the fight against stress. In moments of high stress, hold the crystal between your thumb and index finger and gently slide your thumb back and forth. This motion is known to ease stress, calm the person using it, and support concentration. The practice dates back to Ancient Greece and Tibet, and was also used by the Indigenous peoples of the Americas.
